Tour de Tamborine meets the Scarecrow Festival 2010

The 3rd Annual Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival was held on 25th, 26th, and 27th June 2010! On Fri 25th, Residents and Business Operators had well over 200 fantastic creations out along the 14 km Trail where they were judged under a variety of categories and photographed for posterity. On Sat 26th, the fun really started in Main Street, the shopping centre for the Mountain, comprising Buskers, Bands, Street Performers, and The Festival Queen!! As well as anyone who wanted to dress up and join in the frivolity. On Sun 27th, the entertainment shifted to the iconic Gallery Walk. Here Tourists mingled with locals to enjoy the Shops, Art Galleries, Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Brewery, Cheese Factory, Winery Cellar Doors and much more. A great success and a great weekend had by all, and a big well done to those who made their creations (and the scarecrows that remained still all weekend)! Scarecrow Event Website

Samantha Jane Eames (1969-2003)

Beginning in 2003 in memory of local young archaeologist Samantha Eames, who died of a Brain Tumour aged 33, the Tour de Tamborine has developed into a celebration of her life and looks to carry on her legacy of enthusiasm, commitment, immense courage, and enjoyment of life. Over fifty thousand dollars has been raised for multiple charities with 1600 entrants taking part since its conception. The 2009 event was by far the most successful with twenty thousand dollars being raised for charity and the event supported by over 600 participants and nearly 100 volunteers.Report - Dr Samantha Jane Eames, Archaeologist
